Position: Government and Community Affairs Intern

Position Summary: GO GLOBAL LLC is seeking a rising impact leader to serve as a Government and Community Affairs Intern for Spring 2022. GO GLOBAL LLC is a certified business enterprise (CBE) in Washington DC. Since 2019 GO GLOBAL LLC has been working with various DC Government agencies and programs such as the Aspire to Entrepreneurship program for returning citizens, the DC Main Streets Program, and several Department of Housing and Community Development-supported programs. This position will play a key role to not only deepen our working relationship with the District of Columbia, but will also deepen our impact in the areas of leadership and small business development in the nation’s capital.

The selected candidate will gain an understanding of how government contracting leads to financial inclusion opportunities in emerging communities.  

Responsibilities

The intern will:

  • Work closely with our Chief Storyteller and VP, Government Relations to strengthen the organizations public relations and small business development initiatives.

  • Foster, maintain, and deepen dynamic partnerships in the public sector such as community and municipal offices, DC government agencies, and the Federal Agencies.

  • Play a key role in supporting government relations strategies, cultivating relationships with elected officials and heads of government agencies.

  • Assist in developing and managing relationships with key offices in the Washington DC area such as - Chambers of Commerce and the DC Mayors Office on Community Affairs (African American, African, Latino and Pacific Islander, etc.)

  • Help to prepare stories about the impact of our small business technical assistance services and financial inclusion work through research and PR.

  • Draft news releases, media alerts, and other media materials.

 Qualifications

Qualified candidates:

  •        May be a registered student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate-level program or recently graduated.  

  •        Have excellent writing and analytical skills, acute attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.

  •        Possess a strong interest in social enterprise and public & community relations.

  •        Have digital marketing and social media experience (preferred).

  •        Are located in the Washington DC Metro (preferred, will consider a highly qualified candidate to work remotely within the US).

Time Commitment: 24-40 hours per week

Compensation: Unpaid
